CNN reports that in June the Romney campaign brought in an astounding $100 million, substantially more than the $77 million it raised in May. I count this as a good thing since it shows an increasing political momentum in the right direction.
Also in this story note that the Democrats are trying to float a new meme about “offshore accounts.” I predict that this will fall just as flat as the “war on wymyn” and the attacks on Ann Romney.
I mean, do you really care about how much money Romney has in the bank when you have been out of a job for years under The Obama-Fuhrer? Does envy of others get you a job? Does it put gas in your car? Does it buy you groceries? No it does not. If you are out of a job, hating Romney is probably not the first thing on your agenda. Finding employment and not losing your house is. And if you are supposed to be jealous of Romney, what about the millions of dollars that The Obama-Fuhrer has spent on golfing and vacations during his term in office? Does that not count?
Of course the left is pushing these themes for the simple reason that they don’t have anything real to run on. The economy is a disaster and everyone who is not in a coma knows it. The polls are showing that people are tired of the sluggish economy. Even Democrats.
Case in point;
I came home from a bike ride this afternoon to find one of my neighbors, a Democrat, relaxing in the backyard. We got to talking and the subject of the economy came up. Now we didn’t specifically discuss Obama; I would consider it a bit rude to say to her “I told you so.” But her concern was evident. When I told her that at my job we were getting a couple of new accounts and we were working more hours, she jumped at the idea that it meant the economy might be improving. Her reaction was one I would expect of a person in the water getting a life preserver. So I felt some sympathy, even though I know she voted for the Dumb Bastard. But it was the emotional reaction that I found most interesting. She clearly was hoping, against all of the other evidence, that things might finally be getting better. That says a lot coming from a die-hard Democrat.
Now it is true that the company that I work for is doing OK at the moment, after several slow years in which budgets have been tight. And that is a good thing. But to use that to say that the economy as a whole is improving is a bit of a stretch. Anecdotal evidence is a sign that the company that I work for is doing better than some, but the economy as a whole is another matter. In my view, I have been very lucky for the past few years to still have a job and to be able to pay my bills. I know that many other people have not been so lucky. And so I understand that the real solution is to get rid of the Marxist in the White House before he completely destroys what is left of the economy. And with Romney and the Tea Party in charge, we will see real improvement, and not just empty slogans for a change.
