Fox News reports in this article on some information coming out of the White House about the upcoming speech from the Obama-Fuhrer. Leaving aside the juvenile manner in which the man-child Obama tried to bogart the Republican debate, the leaks we are seeing now indicate that his proposals are going to be spread out over the next several months.
Translation: These are not serious ideas in any way, but are intended to help Obama’s re-election campaign. After all, if the jobs situation in the country is as serious as everyone knows it is, then why don’t we get the ideas and plans right away? We are in an emergency situation, are we not? The unemployment rate is over 9% and we added no new jobs at all in the most recent month of August. Why would you want to wait to announce your grand plan?
A serious President would sit down with the leaders in congress and work out a plan to create incentives for the private sector to create jobs and get the economy going again. A serious President would recognize that taxes are too high, regulations are too oppressive, that businesses are afraid to act because they don’t trust the government to limit its role in the economy to being a referee rather than a prison guard.
But that’s not what we expect to get from this administration. The unfortunate reality is that this President is hostile to what American stands for and to the American people. They continue to attack us, to attack American business and American freedom and success. So the real solution is to kick these people out of office in 2012 and to elect real conservative people who understand the way that the economy and society really works.
Aides say Thursday’s speech will be part of a bigger plan the White House will roll out throughout the fall with the president hitting the road for speeches and town hall appearances. Aides have already confirmed that Obama will be traveling to California, Colorado, and Washington state for one three-day swing later this month that will include economic events as well as some fundraising.
The move could be a way to try and lower the stakes for Thursday’s Joint Session appearance, but it could also be an attempt by the administration to show the president is trying to stay all over the economy heading into what will likely be an uphill re-election battle.
