Victor Davis Hanson writes at The National Review on the hostile economic climate that the administration in Washington has created for the nation, and how liberals seem to be surprised that all of us here in fly-over country have noticed. It’s been hard not to of course. But why should liberals have difficulty figuring out that if you create a climate of fear and uncertainty for the average person, that there will be consequences in the general economy?
People respond to the environment around them. So when they see people losing their jobs, when they see the price of food and fuel skyrocketing, when they see the government taking over industries left and right, and when they see the value of the dollar collapsing, it should not be hard to discern that people will go into a defensive mode to protect what they have remaining. And of course, that’s one of the best ways to get into a depression.
