House of Cards

Today the Republicans caved yet again and the Democrats got what they wanted; tons of new debt and a promise to cut spending that they will never keep. In addition, the Obama-Fuhrer immediately went on TV to proclaim lots of new tax increases, despite the Republican leadership saying that there would be no new taxes. Anyone who was paying attention understood that this entire kabuki dance was intended to get the Democrats lots of new debt and taxes before the next election. And that is the result, at least for now.

Rush has been talking about this today and he is not optimistic. He points out what most conservatives understand; we do not have the money to continue holding up the Leviathan State. Sooner or later the government checks are going to stop. There will be a reckoning at some point, and at that point you would be very wise not to be dependent in any way on the government.

So don’t put yourself in a position where you are dependent on government largess. Don’t expect to get Social Security. Don’t expect to get Medicaid or Medicare. Don’t expect anything from the government.

As conservatives we should, of course, continue to fight to get our people in office because this is going to be a very long fight. And I think that in the long run we will get the right people where they need to be.

But in the meantime, make sure that you have taken all the precautions that you can so that your financial position is as strong as possible. A lot of people who aren’t paying attention are going to get hurt when the house of cards comes down, as it must. Don’t be one of them.
